In the festive spirit...
Wearing tartan in December always makes me feel christmassy, i love to mix it up; style it with different textures and almost make it look a little kitsch. Taking part in the Beyond Retro 'Xmas Jumper Style Challenge' was right up my my street. The ideas was to style a vintage jumper from their amazing selection; from Nordic, fair isle prints, ugly nana knits, garish noel jumpers. Jumpers with everything on but the kitchen sink - for you who are feeling a little brave - 3D sweaters with fairy lights and teddy bears, yes you read right haha! It's so easy to get caught up in all the bells and whistles and completely forget that its a style challenge. My choice wasn't as brave as others, i have to say but hopefully my styling was a little more adventurous.
Beyond Retro pledge to donate £10,000 to Save the Children with a pop up store in London dedicated to novelty christmas jumpers. Till 31st December, £1 from every sale goes towards their pledge. To raise awareness, you guys can get involved! All you need to do is follow Beyond Retro on Twitter & Insatgram, snap a picture of yourself wearing your vintage festive jumpers and tag #XmasJumperStyleChallenge; for the chance to win £250 to spend at Beyond Retro. Don't be a scrooge, you have till 14th December to take part. I would also love to see your entries. Tag me on Instagram & Twitter - @RachaelDobbins.
I felt like a cowgirl in my outfit. I think the lace knee length fringe dress works perfectly with the knitted waistcoat - I prefer it opened as it is quite oversized on me. Styling it with Knee high boots and a fedora just adds to the look, for me, it instantly looks like a winter outfit. If i didn't know any better, i would have thought it was an all vintage outfit. The mini bowler bag finishes the look off perfectly, I love it styled with the tartan bomber; it adds the kitsch element.
